Hi, there. You're not logged in. So, you must be a visitor. Welcome!

What is this? You are viewing one of our supplemental "Stories." In addition to our core design curriculum, we are constantly building out additional resources. Stories are a collection of real work tasks, design history, UX explorations, and work-throughs. Stories are often off-the-cuff and less concerned with production value.

Introduction

Derek runs through a quick visual language exploration and then writes up the code (quickly).

You’re not going to be this quick – but the key is to keep it simple.

Part 1

Planing out the visual language.

A bit of content, some font contrast, some spacing, maybe some colors…

Part 2

Writing the code. Some HTML, some CSS, some custom properties, some dark-mode…

Part 3

Breaking things up with PHP for multiple pages.

Part 4?

What would that be? We’d probably place some of those shapes things. You could use a div or SVGs. And then – as you add more content, there would be more reasons to expand the visual language.
