Hi, there. You're not logged in. So, you must be a visitor. Welcome!

What is this? You are viewing one of our supplemental "Stories." In addition to our core design curriculum, we are constantly building out additional resources. Stories are a collection of real work tasks, design history, UX explorations, and work-throughs. Stories are often off-the-cuff and less concerned with production value.

Introduction

Let’s keep some things here (because they have to exist somewhere or you can’t see them!)

Monday, September 19th

Is this when we officially started?

A few days after that we had a few long sessions where Derek walked people through how to set everything up locally, pull the database, push code – / workflow, etc.

Project outline document.

The goal was to get the majority of the site done in 7 days. Then from there, we’d see what the client can do with it – and while they upload the content and get a feel for things and give feedback, we’d work on something else for a week – and then come back to this for 1 more week. So, the goal of a 2-week project altogether. 3-5 people = an average of 12 hours total a day * 6 days = roughly 72 work hours.

We broke it into 6-7 parts. The first 3 days went as planned.

Saturday, Sept 24th

Ivy puts up screenshots of all of the ‘modules’/page sections that make up the weddings detail page (and highlight page)

Monday, September 26th

Derek shares his example module – and each person takes their share of them to make in CodePen.

During this week we set up the theme / which in general people didn’t remember much of.

Also, set up CodeKit. Talked through the CMS, custom content types, and fields. Style guide got started.

Monday, October 3rd

Things are happening – but mostly seems like the modules on the style guide are getting nudged a bit here and there. Anything else?

October 8th

So, this is about 3 weeks in.
