Hi, there. You're not logged in. So, you must be a visitor. Welcome!

What is this? You are viewing one of our supplemental "Stories." In addition to our core design curriculum, we are constantly building out additional resources. Stories are a collection of real work tasks, design history, UX explorations, and work-throughs. Stories are often off-the-cuff and less concerned with production value.

Introduction

Let’s talk about the GitHub profile page. Does it matter? Decide now, so that you can plan ahead and make the most of the next 5 months.

And a little backstory on these version-control social media things.

This is a rough cut – and really the part we were meaning to talk about was just the chapter called “GITHUB PROFILES” at ~13:00.

28:15  unintentional visuals during intro / put a shot of the reddit thread in there instead.

Things to add:

  • A look at the new GitHub and NPM branding and brand-voice
  • Some notes about the very not cool things that NPM has done
  • We can make a second specific video below about options to add some personalization to your profile
  • Explain why we want the students to use Github during the DFTW course / but how after that – it’s up to them.

Here’s a nice interview with Linus Torvalds.
