Introduction

Games don’t have to be complex – to be fun.

Here’s a fun way to practice your file system knowledge and links. Try out some subfolders as a bonus.

Planning

The Code

You know about the file system. You know about file types. You know how to create HTML files. You know how to create Hyperlinks between them.

So, – can you create a choose your own adventure game, with just HTML?

Space and Beyond, Choose Your Own Adventure #3

Maybe keep it to 5 or 6 decisions at first… 😉

If you’re around for the later Server-side or JavaScript workshops, you might explore a much fancier data-driven choose-your-own-adventure game.

This exercise (now) is about getting repetitions with HTML hyperlinks and clarity on file paths. You may as well just learn them really well now and get them out of the way!

A few student examples

Remember, these are in their first few days of learning HTML 😉

  1. Hacker (Jevohn) (alpha-one)

  2. Choosing a “coding” school (milestone example)

  3. Grayson and Tara’s Choose Your Adventure! (alpha-three)

  4. Adventure (Steve) (alpha-four)

  5. FTP Service (Chris) (alpha-five)

  6. Redlock’s Cabin (Hjalmar) (alpha-five)
