Self-paced DFTW experiment

Long story short, the goal of DFTW has always been to empower designers. True growth comes from within, and while we offer unique, in-depth, targeted, and high-quality resources, effective workshops, and truly personalized support, – we can’t force anyone to put in the work or commit the time.

Why?

We’ve run experiments of all sizes—small groups, larger gatherings, and everything in between—because we want to make a bigger impact. The truth is, most people won’t follow through unless they’re genuinely motivated. To reach our goal, we need to connect with many more of you who are ready to take charge of your own learning.

That’s why we’re launching this self-driven experiment. It puts the ball in your court, giving you the chance to explore your passions and make the most of our resources. We offer various coaching options—personal, group, short-term, and long-term—to provide the support you need.

Ultimately, this journey is up to you. With this opportunity, we aim to build a larger network of designers who are skilled and motivated to make a real difference.

How

This isn’t just a course you watch and binge. It’s a course of action with milestones and feedback. You won’t move past a stage until your work is signed off and meets our standards. In a way, this serves as our own internal (unofficial) certification for the degree of experience and skill you need to be a successful designer.

You’ll either be able to do the work, or you won’t. The sooner you discover where you stand, the less likely you’ll be to waste your time and money on a hazy dream.

Initially, the program is open for everyone to join, but to be invited into the core community later on, you’ll need to complete all the workshops and projects to a satisfactory level of depth.

If you want to try it out, it will start at $100 a month and move up as we get more people, probably settling around $300 a month (with additional support options). When you sign up, you’ll also get a one-on-one planning session with Derek, which is worth the $100 on its own.
