Behind the scenes.
This is where we keep random update and videos about what we’re doing behind the scenes 🕵️
A new PE site!
Over the years, we’ve really stress-tested this thing. It held up well! Is started out as just a series of “pages” really to act as a bit of a plan of action. And those turned into workshops and workshops grouped up into bigger workshops. We explored a much wider range of concepts. And if you’ve been in any of the groups / or on your own and using the site (or helping build it) than you know that we added many different features. You really are building the plane while flying. But now that we’ve seen how those things work (or don’t) we can take a step back and iterate and formalize them. It will also be crucial for this next experiment.
A detailed self-driven DFTW program
Over the years as we worked with so many people through so many different goals, we’ve been able to collect quite a large library of workshops, videos, evergreen resources, exercise outlines, project outlines, and most of the questions people are going to have are explored somewhere. In many cases, we find that people don’t have time to engage with the group. They’re able to get what they need on their own though this much larger library of tools. So, in 2025 – we’ll be running an experimental self-driven version of the DFTW outline.
We’re not totally sure what form that will take… but it will not be a full free-for-all. People will need to get peer review and clearance before they can move on to each module (for their own good). This is not going to be a coding boot camp or training course. It’s going to cover a much wider range of subjects and situations – so if you really need to call it something – it’s more like a “unicorn product design exploratory learning journey” (or something ;). Instead of working with a group (which is clearly ideal in our eyes) – people will be able to pay monthly for an official “course” of action. These will be broken into modules and they can work at their own pace. This will naturally be much less resources for us (and Derek won’t be on hand all day), so it will be a monthly fee to cover our expenses and the time for review.
A new musical sequencing software
We’ve been working on a new idea that takes the best things about the Akai MPC and things Logic or Abelton… and might just combine them. This will be our first official foray into the hardware realm. It’s pretty exciting. And we’ll be documenting all the processes (and you’re invited to get involved).
