Sprint grading
Last updated: October 28, 2024
Introduction
Sometimes people want (or need) a grade to see how they’re doing.
Metrics
0-3: Needs improvement
4-6: Adequate but with some gaps
7-9: Strong performance
10: Outstanding
-
Scope Definition
How well was the scope defined?
Was it:
- Too little?
- Too much?
- Just right?
-
Planning visibility & discoverability
- Is the plan clear and easily accessible for review?
- Did they document enough without overwhelming?
- Was it discoverable and understandable by others?
-
Accessibility of deliverables
- Is the work always accessible to relevant stakeholders (e.g., Figma, GitHub, live URLs)?
- Can the project manager track progress easily?
-
Clarity and sharing of daily goals
- Are daily goals clearly stated and actionable?
- Are they shared with the team to maintain transparency?
-
Consistency of updates
- Are progress updates documented and shared regularly (daily or as needed)?
- Is there consistency in communication?
-
Handling stuck points / leveraging resources
- Are they identifying blockers and asking clear, actionable questions?
- Are they making effective use of available resources (senior developers, designers, peers)?
- Are they comfortable asking for help or collaborating to solve problems?
-
Adaptability and iteration
- How effectively did they adapt to feedback or changing requirements?
- Did they revise their approach when needed without resistance?
- Are they iterating efficiently, focusing on improvement rather than perfection?
-
Collaboration and team dynamics
- How well did they collaborate with teammates or leverage feedback?
- Even as an individual contributor, did they engage others to solve problems?
- Did they demonstrate openness to suggestions from the project manager or peers?
-
Achievement of daily goals
- Did the final deliverable align with the weekly goal and initial scope?
- Did they effectively manage scope changes?
-
General confidence
Based on the sprint, what is the confidence level (0-10) that the person can handle similar projects independently?
