Core code updates under way: Pardon any rough edges.

Introduction

There are a few really important things to know about Figma. Then – the rest of it, you’ll figure out as you go and based on your needs.

Start making stuff so that you run into some real-world situations that lead to questions (and then ask them).

(we should redo these with the newest figma version)

Basic prototyping

You don’t need to make it fancy to make sure the user flow works.

Managing reusable components

Questions?

(They added aspect-ratio in mid 2025! – which you can use for those card image ratios)

When we revisit this:

  • we wouldn’t likely make each little piece of text into a component / but it depends
  • auto gap/margin is important to note because it’s not intuitive
  • show aspect-ratio lock for the image
  • show text variable
  • show instance swap example
  • note that making the content and then adding a frame with shift + a is easier and a better flow than making frame and adding the content after

The bones of the order are still solid though. This small set of tools is 95% of what you’ll use / it just comes down to practicing and trying them all (for many hours).
