In DFTW, yes — it’s one of the defining things about that program. Design and development aren’t two different tracks there; they’re two sides of the same work, and neither makes real sense without the other. Designers who can’t build learn a narrow version of design; developers who can’t design build things that don’t work for the people using them. DFTW treats both as one practice.
